TIME & PLACE: the Poleci store at 32 Gansevoort Street

We slipped in a few minutes before the event ended, as POLECI’S NEW DESIGN DIRECTOR, JEFFERY CHOW, was taking his bow with the models.

FE: What changes did you make to the collection now that you’ve taken over the design?

JEFFREY CHOW: I tried to keep the draping and the interesting fabrics Poleci is known for. I’m an East Coast guy, so I’ve added a more polished element to it.

FE: How what you describe this collection?

JEFFERY: Little Tokyo meets Venice Beach.

FE: What do you think of this location? Is it the right place to have the store?

JEFFREY: Well, meat-packing is a destination shopping area, no question.

FE: How many collections do you design a year for Poleci?

JEFFREY: We do 10 collections a year [we showed 2 here this evening].

FE: Do you do accessories? Any new ventures in the works?

JEFFREY: The neckpieces in this collection are Poleci. I’d like to do men’s. Poleci is such a great name for menswear!

FE: What are your price-points?

JEFFREY: We start at $250 and go to around $900 for the leather pieces.

With Mr. Chow’s energy and enthusiasm and prices such as these, Poleci has an edge on other designers who have been forced to lower their prices to try and boost sales.
